SICKEST DOCUMENTARY. I have been watching it over the past 3 night because it is an 8-episode series. The Staircase covers the court case of Michael Peterson’s murder trial. Whoever filmed it gained complete and total access to Peterson’s defense team and full access inside of the courtroom as well. How they obtained that, I have no idea. Peterson is very wealthy so his lawyer is a fucking BEAST. My mind is blown every time he speaks in the courtroom.
It’s been fun to weigh my opinion as more evidence is brought up from each side. I feel like I’ve learned a lot about the court system and how a trial actually works, both of which I felt pretty ignorant of beforehand.
Anyways, I would HIGHLY recommend it. I suppose it sounds boring but the way its filmed creates such an eerie tension, you can’t help but to pose yourself in Peterson’s shoes. Very entertaining. Very cool. JUST DON’T GOOGLE IT BEFORE YOU WATCH IT. I wish I wouldn’t have.
